Macalister Irrigation District permanent water shares available for sale now

Southern Rural Water is selling 400ML of high reliability (HRWS) and 250ML of low reliability (LRWS) permanent water shares within the Macalister Irrigation District. 

HRWS are available for $3000/ML and LWRS are available for $214/ML. Minimum purchase amount is 1ML for HRWS and 5ML for LRWS.  

The shares will be sold without allocation for the 2024-25 season. The first allocation announcement will happen on 1 July 2025.

The permanent water shares were originally offered at auction last month but went unsold. SRW said the water has been made available due to savings achieved as part of the Macalister Irrigation District modernisation project.
